La Vera Storia del Tiramisù

Tiramisù is one of the most famous desserts in the world and a symbol of Italian cuisine. Contrary to what one might think, its origin is recent and dates back to the early post-war period. In 2017, light was shed on this much-debated question — and it's certainly a story worth telling. “The true story of Tiramisù” is the story of Mario Cosolo, an Italian pastry chef and cook who created the dessert in 1935 aboard the Royal Yacht. When the war ended, Mario returned home, bringing with him his experience and passion. The Trattoria Al Vetturino, the Cosolo family's restaurant, became one of the most acclaimed in Italy. In 1945, the “Tirime sù” cup he had created for Victor Emmanuel III became part of his menu, available to all guests. With the publication in the Official Gazette of the national list of traditional agri-food products (PAT) on 29/07/17, Tiramisù was declared a typical dessert of Friuli.
